The Mercenary Expert’s Feelers Out ability requires Kay to make Nix jealous, as one of the Unlock Conditions. In this guide for Star Wars Outlaws, we’ll explain how you can complete the objective so you can unlock the ability.

Star Wars Outlaws has 9 Experts you can find and unlock. Once unlocked, each Expert provides Kay with a variety of new abilities, once certain conditions have been met. The condition for Feelers Out is unique, no other ability has the same requirement, similar to the making Nix happy objective.

So, how do you make Nix jealous? Well, it’s very simple. Simply approach any other animal and use the interact command. Depending on the animal, Kay will typically pet or interact with them in some way.

This causes Nix to get jealous, fulfilling the requirement for the objective. Don’t worry, though, it’s a temporary thing and doesn’t impact Kay’s relationship with Nix going forward.

Showing what a creature looks like so the player knows what to look for

Although you can find little critters all over the galaxy, you can quickly and easily complete the objective by heading to Jaunta’s Hope. You’ll find these furry little fritters just sitting at the bottom of the ramp to the landing pad.

The Scavenger Expert’s Survivor ability requires Kay to locate a Stranded Merchant somewhere on the planet Akiva. Doing so fulfills one of the ability requirements, granting Kay additional health. Check out the guide below for all the details.

The stranded merchant is a trader named Namda Eaakee, bonus points if you can pronounce that. He has been stuck in The Great Basin after his speeder malfunctioned, leaving him stranded on an island. He’s setup shop and sells a few valuable items needed for upgrades and ability unlocks.

You will need the Speeder upgrade that allows you to traverse over deep water. This is unlocked by completing the main story missions on Akiva and recruiting The Scavenger expert.

Once you’ve got the upgraded Speeder, head to this island in The Great Basin and you’ll find the merchant there. Simply interact with him to complete the objective.

Understanding how to distract Kay’s enemies in Star Wars Outlaws is vital, for two reasons. Firstly, it allows Kay to quickly and easily avoid or dispatch of enemies and secondly, it’s required to unlock some Expert abilities.

Once an enemy is distracted, Kay has two different choices she can make. The distraction can serve as a method to allow Kay to avoid detection, bypassing guards or cameras without being discovered.

However, a distracted enemy is also vulnerable. While they will still detect Kay if she enters their cone of vision, they can be defeated with a takedown ability in a single blow.

An image showing the main character of Star Wars Outlaws, Kay, using her companion Nix to distract a camera

To distract enemies or security cameras, Kay must use her Nix abilities. Highlight the Nix vision, using either LB or L1 on console. PC controls can be seen in the bottom left of the screen, while playing.

This brings up the Nix interface, allowing Kay to assign Nix specific actions. The Distract action is contextual, which means it only becomes available once certain criteria are met.

For Distraction, you simply need to highlight an area that is within line of sight of a camera or enemy. You will then see Nix’s icon change to the Distraction icon, as shown in the image above.

Then, simply press the Distract button and Nix will activate after a few seconds. You can then takedown enemies to complete the objective.

Kay’s furry little friend’s happiness is tied to several Expert ability Unlock Conditions. In this guide for Star Wars Outlaws, we’ll tell you all the different ways you can make your friend Nix happy.

There are two different Experts in Star Wars Outlaws that require Kay to make Nix happy in order to fulfill Unlock Conditions for new abilities. MT-7‘s Nix Commando ability requires 6 different ways to make Nix happy, while Selo Rovak‘s Treasure Hunter ability requires 3.

It’s important to note that these are completed retroactively when you get the correct Experts, so we’re a little unsure on some of these. Follow them through, and you should be able to get Nix to enjoy life 6 times.

Cuddle Your Furry Friend
Petting Nix is the easiest way to make him happy. Simply approach Nix using Nix Sense and then look at him. You can then follow the on-screen prompt to pet him.

Story Events
At least one major story event counts as making Nix happy. We won’t go into spoilers but during the main story on Tatooine, Kay does something to make Nix happy.

Feeding Nix
There are a number of locations where you can feed Nix. It costs 200 Credits and unlocks permanent buffs, so it’s worth doing even if it doesn’t make him happy each time.

Messing Around
Using the grappling hook to swing over gaps is exciting for Kay, and Nix seems to enjoy it riding on her back also. If you need another Nix happy point, give this a shot.

Explosive Entertainment
Using Nix’s ability to detonate explosive barrels, killing enemies, seems to make him smile.

Trapping & Disabling Alarms
Turns out, Nix doesn’t like loud noises either. Simply trapping or disabling alarms, using Nix commands, can make him happy.

One of the many Expert objectives requires you to have Nix taste 3 different meals. In this guide for Star Wars Outlaws, we’ll show you all the different locations Nix can use to eat.

While this is mostly used for the Cheeky Explosion ability upgrade for Teeka The Hotfixer Expert, each dish can also provide Nix with unique and powerful abilities, such as the opportunity to kick away enemy grenades.

You only need to feed Nix 3 different meals, but as there are buffs available for the additional meals, we’ll show you all of the eating locations.

Bonus Tip

Once you have eaten a meal with Nix, you can head to the kitchen part of your ship. From here, interact with the food dish. This allows you to give Nix a new food item, changing the buff available to better suit your current situation.

Akiva Nix Street Food

The Akiva Galactic Street Food can be found in the city of Myraa, on Satrap’s Promenade.

Kurado Fruit Effect: Nix distractions last longer

Bonus Tip #2

The sequences with Kay and Nix eating at the various establishments is some of the most personal content between the two characters. To speed things up, or to enjoy the interaction fully, you can disable the mini-game in the option’s menu.

Many areas of Toshara are locked behind special doors that require a Slicing Kit to open. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can upgrade Kay’s Slicer in Star Wars Outlaws, unlocking the Slicing Kit and gaining access to new areas.

Unfortunately, this is quite an irritating part of the Star Wars Outlaws experience. If you enjoy roaming free, you’re likely going to run into many strongholds and locations with locked doors. If you don’t have the Slicing Kit unlocked already, you will need to return later to gain access to these areas.

Bonus Tip

We highly recommend completing this part of the Star Wars Outlaws story before doing any free roam exploration. This is largely because most of the larger camps, outposts, and defensive structures you can find, all have locked doors that require the Slicing Kit.

To avoid having to clear out enemies multiple times, follow the story to get the Slicing Kit and then start exploring more freely.

Step 1: Follow The Main Story

You will need to progress a few hours into the main story, before the opportunity to unlock the Splicing Kit is available. Continue doing work for Danka and eventually she will give you the story mission, New Tricks.

Once that mission is completed, you are able to begin the quest to unlock the Slicer Kit.

Step 2: Unlock The Slicer

Once you have completed New Tricks, Danka will tell you of some friends she has that will be able to upgrade your equipment and Speeder. One of these friends in The Slicer, one of the many Experts in the game that unlock new abilities for Kay.

Once the mission to find The Slicer begins, head to Makal’s Gambling Parlor in Mirogana. Once there, head to the bar in the center and eavesdrop on a nearby conversation. This will begin the mission chain for The Slicer.

Simply complete the mission and you will gain access to the Slicing Kit.

The Hotfixer, Teeka, Expert has an ability to unlock that requires you to hunt down some merchants. In this guide, we’ll show you how to quickly and easily locate the 5 Jawa Traders for the M’Gasha Ability.

The M’Gasha ability is a great skill to unlock early in Star Wars Outlaws, as it both decreases the cost of goods at merchants, whilst also increase the value of items you sell. The sooner you unlock the ability, the more money you will make overall.

Mos Eisley Jawa Traders

A map showing where to find 2 jawa Traders in Mos Eisley

There are two Jawa Traders that can be found in Mos Eisley on Tatooine. One can be found on the East side of town, outside Chalmun’s Cantina. The other can be found in the North part of town, working one of the stalls in Scavengers Draw.

Tatooine Jawa Traders

The first Jawa Trader outside of Mos Eisley can be found at this location, the Mos Eisley Outskirts. This Jawa Trader also sells one of the Gunslinger Gear Set Pieces.

A map showing where to find the 4th Jawa Trader

You can find this Jawa Trader on the West edge of Tatooine, in the South Jundland Wastes.

An image showing the location of the last Jawa Trader

You can find this Jawa Trader, Pinota Pakinota, in the South Jundland Wastes. Take the fast travel point to Bestine and then follow the road South, through the cliffs. Once you enter the South Jundland Wastes, there’s a speeder jump you need to make. You can then travel to the merchant after climbing some cliffs.

Have you encountered the red, cracked walls and rocks whilst exploring? You need a certain upgrade in order to explore these areas. Check out the full guide below to learn how to blow up walls in Star Wars Outlaws.

This is a very useful ability, arguably one of the most useful in the game. The walls that can be destroyed are scattered across every planet, and some block the passage to very powerful upgrades and equipment pieces. As such, it’s a good idea to unlock this as soon as you can.

Bonus Tip

The Blaster Upgrade to blow up walls is one of three upgrades required to fully explore the game world. If you unlock all three of these upgrades as early as possible, it will save you a lot of time in the future, as you won’t need to return to locations once you have these new abilities unlocked.

After you get the Blaster Upgrade on Tatooine, we recommend heading to Akiva. Once you have completed the appropriate missions on Akiva, you will have the Fusion Cutter and the ability to travel over water on your Speeder.

You need to head to Tatooine as your first planet, once you have the freedom to explore the galaxy. When you arrive at Tatooine you will discover Intel that leads to the main story mission, The Gunsmith.

Once you have completed The Gunsmith story missions, ND-5 will contact Kay over comms and inform her that he has an upgrade available for her blaster.

Head back to your ship, the Trailblazer, and ND-5 will be waiting next to the weapons bench. Speak with him to obtain the materials and then craft the blaster upgrade.

You can now switch to this new ammo type, by holding the ammo change button, and use it to blow up walls and rocks.

As you explore the game, you will often find these yellow metal gates blocking your path. In order to explore these areas, you need to unlock a unique tool, it’s called the Fusion Cutter. Check out the guide below to learn how to unlock this tool in Star Wars Outlaws, you’re going to need it.

The Fusion Cutter is a unique tool that cannot be found or purchased in the game world. Instead, you must follow specific story missions in order to unlock it.

Bonus Tip

In order to explore all areas of the map in Star Wars Outlaws, you’re going to need three unique upgrades. The Fusion Cutter, the Blaster upgrade to blow up walls, and the speeder upgrade to traverse deep water.

All of these upgrades are split across two planets, Tatooine and Akiva. As such, we recommend hitting up Tatooine first for the blaster upgrade, and then choosing Akiva as the next planet to get the other two upgrades.

The Fusion Cutter is on planet Akiva, in Myrra. When you arrive, you will unlock the story missions to free your friend Gedeek, one of the required crew members for the upcoming heist.

Once you have freed Gedeek from the clutches of the Empire, he will contact you over comms about some other missions. Return to your ship at this point, and ND-5 will suffer a malfunction.

Gedeek will then explain that ND-5 requires a new power core, or he will stop functioning. This starts the mission Legacy. Follow and complete the mission objectives and near the end of the mission, Gedeek will give you the Fusion Cutter.
