Monster Arena Tournaments Coming to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

Both Square Enix and ARTDINK released new details around their upcoming Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake release, detailing its Monster Arena Tournaments and the Monster Wrangler Vocation.

New and exclusive to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, monster arenas can be found worldwide. Each has its own ranked tournaments, with players assembling teams of up to three rescued monsters. Note that those who rescue more than one of the same species of monster will make it mightier.

In Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, friendly monsters that can be rescued will appear on the field. However, each and every monster differs from one another, requiring players to use special tricks to rescue some of them.

For instance, some monsters in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake will flee when exposed to certain sounds or smells, while others will scamper at your sight. To counteract this, players can mask their approach with certain abilities or items.

Also coming to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is the Monster Wrangler vocation, which can help build a team to take on the Monster Arena Tournaments. Monster Wrangler in one’s party prevents friendly critters from fleeing when you approach. They also possess the ability to see how many of these critters are in the area nearby.

Finally, the Monster Wrangler’s “Monster Pile-On” attack dishes out more damage the more monsters one has rescued. Note that rescuing additional monsters unlocks new abilities for the Monster Wrangler.
